SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- In just his second start since switching to Honma equipment, Justin Rose recorded a victory at the 2019 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California. The Englishman posted a final score of -21 to win by two strokes over Australian Adam Scott.
It was a clinic all week as Rose made eagle on his first hole of the tournament on his way to an opening-round 63 at the North Course. His strong play continued Friday as he cruised to a 6-under 66 at the vaunted South Course. His opening two rounds earned him a three-shot lead heading into the weekend.
He followed up his sterling opening rounds with a third-round 69. His 18-under 54 hole score tied the lowest ever recorded in the history of the tournament as he took a three-shot lead into the final round.
Rose got off to a shaky start Sunday as he played his first six holes in one over par. He quickly responded with a birdie on the 7th as he regained the form he displayed in the first 54 holes of the tournament. A late charge from Adam Scott was halted as Rose birdied 16 and 18 to put the tournament out of reach. The victory was Rose’s 10th on the PGA TOUR and solidified his status as world number one.
Rose used 11 Honma clubs on his way to victory at Torrey Pines.
